The Speech Hive is an independent Speech and Language Therapy service ran by Jo Jackson, BSc Hons (first class honours with clinical distinction) MRCSLT. It provides specialist input for adults with a acquired communication and/or swallowing disorder.

The Speech Hive provides assessment, diagnosis and therapy programmes for adults with acquired speech and language difficulties. Individualised advice and training packages for adults are offered. Assessment and therapy is available in people’s homes and other settings such as care homes and day centres. Video consultations are available if you are living out of area.

The Speech Hive has flexible treatment plans that are tailored to meet your individual needs and progress which can include collaboration with family and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach.

Services are offered in Lancashire and surrounding areas.

About Jo

Jo graduated from the University of Reading in 2011 and started working with adults in an acute and community setting. Jo also works as a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS and has 13 years of experience. She has completed specialist training in dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), Lee Silverman Voice Treatment and aphasia therapy.

Jo has specialised experience in managing a wide range of client groups including long term neurological conditions (e.g. Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis), stroke, dementia, voice and elderly care. Jo works closely with multidisciplinary teams such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, neurologists to discuss and review individuals needs. Jo has experience in running advice and therapy groups for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

Jo is passionate about using the best and latest techniques to help you and strives to enable individuals to navigate their personal and professional lives with confidence and autonomy.
